Chinese plate with grape vines

This antique Chinese export porcelain plate is beautifully decorated with a large grape vine covering the entire center of the plate. This central decoration is surrounded along the rounded well by four flower cartouches reserved on an ornamental band. The rim is decorated with eight smaller grape vines. The overall appearance of this decoration is certainly attractive. The reverse is decorated with two simple branches. Diameter about 8.75 inches (22.5 cm).

Excellent, with a 0.15-inch chip as well as some fritting to the rim. In addition, there is a minor firing flaw in the reverse footring.

Qianlong, circa 1740.
