Large 7-inch Chinese Imari bowl

This attractive large Chinese Imari bowl is beautifully decorated with peony sprays. The quality and detail of especially the large spray is quite exceptional. The interior rim has a nice border of flowers and leaves. This bowl represents the best in Chinese Imari production achieved during the reign of the Chinese emperor Qianlong (1736-1795). It dates from around 1740. The diameter of this bowl is 7 inches (about 18 cm) and the height is 3.25 inches (about 8 cm).

Good, with an almost invisible 3-inch (about 7.5 cm) hairline fracture but no other faults. There is almost no wear to the enameled highlights, which is very unusual!

Qianlong, circa 1740.
