Small Chinese vase with flowers

Description
This attractive little beaker vase is decorated with rocks and flowers, such as peonies and chrysanthemums. The decoration is executed in the typical cobalt blue of the Kangxi period. The fine white paste fully supports this dating. In the 17th and 18th century, wealthy collectors of Chinese export porcelain were very interested in rare small pieces for their display cases with curiosities, the so called "etagère" pieces. This small vase is an excellent example of such a piece. The height is 4 inches (just over 10 cm).

Condition
Good, with damage to the footring. In addition, there is a 0.05-inch chip to the rim and a small brown firing stain at the interior.

Age
Kangxi, circa 1700.
