Chinese Imari Batavia ware saucer


Description
The reverse of this saucer is covered with a brown glaze, typical for the so-called Batavia wares. The front of the saucer is decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze red and traces of gold, the typical Imari style. Depicted is a large flower vase, which is placed in a fenced Chinese garden with rocks. The rim is decorated with four simple flower cartouches reserved on an ornamental band. The diameter of saucer is just over 4.5 inches (12 cm).

Condition
Perfect, with only rubbing to the enameled highlights.

Age
Qianlong, circa 1760.
