Chinese Polychrome lidded jug with blossoms

This Chinese lidded jug is decorated with blossoming branches as well as some other flowers. The decoration is executed in underglaze blue and overglaze red, green, blue, black and gold. The overall appearance is quite attractive and somewhat reminiscent of the Kakiemon wares from Japan. However, this jug is definitely Chinese, as can be judged from the glaze and porcelain paste. It dates from the reign of the Chinese emperor Kangxi (1662-1722), around 1700. It is quite unusual that the original matching lid is still present.  The height of the jug (including the lid) is 5 inches (13 cm).

Perfect, with only some rubbing to the enameled highlights.

Kangxi, circa 1700.
