Rose-Imari plate with river scene


Description
The decoration of this beautiful octagonal plate combines the Imari and Famille Rose styles in one palette. This combination of styles has resulted in a very attractive piece. Depicted is a Chinese river scene, with houses, trees, flowers and a boat. This central decoration is surrounded along the rounded well by an ornamental band. The rim is decorated with geometric shapes, flowers and butterflies. This plate dates from the middle of the reign of the Chinese emperor Qianlong (1736-1795), around 1760. The diameter of this plate is 9 inches (23 cm).

Condition
Excellent, with several small chips to the rim.

Qianlong, circa 1760.
