Chinese Imari teacup and saucer with figures

This beautiful Chinese Imari teacup and saucer set has a rare decoration consisting of seated ladies admiring a flower. This decoration is certainly inspired by Japanese examples of the late 17th century. The quality and detail of this unusual scene is exceptional.  In spite of the Japanese character of the decoration, this set is certainly Chinese and dating from the reign of the Chinese emperor Kangxi (1662-1722), around 1700. The diameter of the saucer is 4.25 inches (about 10.5 cm) and the height of the cup is 1.5 inches (about 3.5 cm).

Excellent, with glaze wear and some minute frits to the rim.

Kangxi, circa 1700.
