Two molded Kangxi teacups and saucers

Both the cups and the saucers of this fine teacup and saucer set are attractively moulded in the shape of a flower. In addition, the porcelain is of high quality as is reflected in the translucent paste. This set is an excellent example of the wares produced during the reign of the Chinese emperor Kangxi (1662-1722). The central decoration of the saucers and the interior decoration of the cups consists of a large flower. On the saucers this central flower is surrounded by two attractive bands. The same bands can be found at the exterior of the cup. The overall appearance is quite unique for wares from this period. Both the cups and the saucers are marked with a symbol.  The diameter of the saucers is almost 4.5 inches (11 cm) and the height of the cups is 1.5 inches (almost 4 cm).

Excellent, with all pieces having some minor fritting and glaze wear to the rim. In addition, both cups have an original firing flaw.

Kangxi, circa 1700.
