Set of six matching Chinese export plates

This is a unique set of six matching Chinese export porcelain plates. These plates date from the end of the reign of the Chinese emperor Kangxi (1662-1722) or the beginning of the reign of Qianlong (1736-1795). Whereas it is already unusual to find a single plate of this quality from this period, it is certainly unique that a series of six matching plates survived the centuries together. The decoration of the plates consists of a landscape with trees, houses and a boat in a Transitional manner. The rim is decorated with four flower panels separated by ornamental bands. All six plates have an attractive brown rim. The diameter of these plates is about 9 inches (23 cm).

Excellent, with three plates being perfect and the other three plates having some small chips to the rim (largest 0.3-inch, others much smaller).

1st half 18th century
